Rajiv GandhI was the 6th Prime Minister of India from 1984 to 1989. After assuming the office of his mother, Prime mister Indira Gandhi, He took over as the youngest Indian Prime Minister after 40 years of age. Gandhi was a descendant of politically powerful Nehru - Gandhi family. associated with the Indian Indian National Congress Party. His grand father Jawaharlal Nehru was the prime minister for his childhood.

Rajiv GandhI Biography 



Rajiv GandhI married to Antonia Miao. Who was then a citizen of Italy. After marriage his wife changed her name to Sonia Gandhi. He met Rajiv GandhI when Rajiv had gone to study in Cambridge. They got married in 1968. After which they started living in India. Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi have to children. Son Rahul Gandhi  born in 1970 and daughter Priyanka Gandhi was born in 1971.



Rajiv Gandhi not interested in politics and he used to serve as an airline pilot. After the emergency when Indira Gandhi had to leave the power, then for some time Rajiv GandhI had gone to live with the family. Rajiv Gandhi entered politics in 1982 to cooperate with mother Indira Gandhi after the untimely death of her younger brother Sanjay Gandhi in an accident in 1980. After the assassination of prime minister Indira Gandhi by Sikh militants on 31 October 1984. She was sworn in as the caretaker prime minister. By taking huge referendum in the general election of 1985. She assumed the office of prime minister. Rajiv Gandhi as a power full and efficient politician Emerged. 

As prime minister, he announced the new education policy. Various types of commissions were constituted for industrial deployment of the country. Efforts have been made to give new direction and direction to science and technology and the " technology mission " for the first time in the country came into existence as an institution system. He was the first prime minister to talk about the release of Indian democracy from the power brokers. He also took away the corrupt bureaucracy. He first gave new shotgun to the nation as a prosperous and mighty nation, towards the 20th century. During his Regine he travelled to many countries and raised diplomatic, economic and culture relations with them from India

In the last two years of the prime minister ship, due to his personal advisers, Rajiv GandhI was surrounded by some such controversies, which depended his reputation. His image of 'Mr Clean' was bleak. They became the centre of criticism. 


In the next election the Congress lost and Rajiv GandhI had to withdraw from the post of Prime minister. In the next elections the prospect of wining the Congress and becoming the prime minister of Rajiv GandhI was very less. Meanwhile on 21 May 1991. 50 km from Madras Mr. Rajiv Gandhi's Tamil militants killed in a bomb blast while defeating the people in a polling rally in far- perumbudur. This well planned conspiracy  has erupted a youthful age and aspiration from the politics of the country forever which shook the entire world masses not only for the Indians but also shook the inner side.


In a decade of political life, Rajiv GandhI left an impression and went away from his country India forever, the India government paid homage to the departed leader off the country, honouring him with the highest Honor ' BHARAT RATNA '.
